Insurance

We are not in-network with any insurance providers and do not accept insurance. However, we recommend contacting your carrier and inquiring about any out-of-network behavioral health care benefits you may have as part of your plan. Many people are surprised to find they do have some coverage in this area. If you wish to submit to your insurance for reimbursement for out-of-network services, we can work with you by providing you with superbills, at your request. These superbills provide information to your insurance carrier so they can process your out-of-network reimbursement claim. If they do reimburse for the service, the payment will go to you and can help defray some of your out of pocket costs. Please note that a superbill includes your mental health diagnosis, so that part of your protected health information (PHI) would be shared with your provider, in order for them to process the billing and payment. Please carefully consider your privacy and any concerns about your mental health records in choosing to use your insurance benefits. Also note that not all services are billable to insurance, as many insurances do not reimburse for intern-level care.

While there is a lot to be said about the ethical complications and administrative challenges of participating as an in-network provider with insurance plans, we do care about access to mental health care. We make efforts via alternate avenues to serve a variety of clients, including, but not limited to: supporting well-trained interns who can offer low fees, keeping a percentage of slots exclusively for low-fee clients, and otherwise making contributions in communities where access to mental health care can be limited.

Good Faith Estimate

As of January 1, 2022: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
